I am very sad. I am not unconcerned about all the happenings
in my dear state of Ekiti. Ever since the return of Ayodele Fayose into the
political landscape of the state, the relative tranquility of the state has
disappeared. I believe in fundamental human right of every citizen of Ekiti
State, Fayose inclusive but I understand that human virtues supersede all.
Ekiti has the virtue of being honourable people, the virtue was virtually
removed during the first coming of Fayose with flagrant disrespect for
the government of the day. He flaunt the rule of law because he had the support
of the Federal Government and was made the emperor of Ekiti before his
ascension as the governor.
I was not away during Fayose administration in Ekiti and I
can still recall vividly the trepidation we all felt around Adso-Ekiti, the
state capital. Fayose molested the traditional ruler of Ekiti and fought all
the founding fathers of the state to standstill. I recall that Fayose retrieved
the official car given to prominent rulers like Ewi of Ado-Ekiti and went as
far as demoting the traditional ruler of my hometown because that one decides
to be neutral when he campaigned for the office.
We should not forget the many death and assassination
attempts on some illustrious and industrious sons and daughters of Ekiti State.
Have you forgot the name 'Goke' so soon? Fayose had a terminator squad and his
fear was the beginning of wisdom in Ekiti before he was impeached. Have we
unraveled the mystery behind the death of Ayo Daramola, a United Nation's
representative on poverty eradication and millennium goals in Africa? Daramola
was killed right in his own bedroom and there was insinuation that he was
eliminated due to his perceived growing influence in the politic of Ekiti
State.
Then, what is all these hullabaloo about Fayose once again?
I can recall more than one episode of his media platform, 'Mr Governor Explains'
and the Yoruba version, 'Gomina Salaye'. Fayose boasted that he can never
tolerate all his predecessor, Otunba Niyi Adebayo tolerated because he was
smarter than Niyi to allow an aspirant to undermine his authority and power in
the state as the king of kings of Ekiti, therefore, he was nicknamed, 'the
emperor'.
Today, Ekiti people has forgot all those ignoble
moment in their history and are clamouring for this irredeemable criminal to
come back and rule over them. It is obvious Ekiti do not posses the honour and
the integrity outsiders accord them. I am an indigene of Ekiti State and I can
say from what has been happening that the so called academic inclination of the
State is very primitive, rigid and retrogressive. Is it not a shame that a
graduate will be looking from crumbs from a politician with questionable
academic record? Why the sudden display of hunger once again by my people? They
were fooled with water and kerosene the first time and now with quantity of
rice. I see some people trading their destiny.
