Remembering the Icon: Michael Joseph Jackson (29th August 1958 – 25th June 2009)

Over five years ago, the world was shaken with the news of his death, one of the icons of music, irrespective of the genre. He was an African-American singer, song writer, actor and dancer.
His dance has infected humanity more than any virus known by us. Destiny is the most mysterious of all gift, it always rattle us. Michael Joseph Jackson was born like every other man, more humiliating at that time as a black man but he defied the odds to live up to his potentials and become eternal influence in the growing up of millions of youths and children, everyone just want to break dance like ‘Macho Jacko’.
Today, you would have been celebrated differently had been you were around, but posthumously, the world celebrates your 56th Birthday. Not every man have such grace, but nature has bestowed on you to be an icon and a colossal great man that tread the surface of the earth and conquered many adversaries to be the best he is made to be.
He is still remembered for his early fame that robbed him of his normal life, he sought to live like a common man but nature has another plan, he never did and he died doing what he liked to do best; rehearsing for a sold out and record breaking concert at O2 Arena in London when he slumped and died. The concert itself was to be his last show but he made it greater through his exit, Michael danced to the gate of heaven.

“I come from Ikorodu, Lagos state. I am married to a dashing young lawyer of 70 years of age and we have four grown up gentlemen and grandchildren. It has not been a rag to riches fairytale. It has not been an overnight phenomenon like some cases which you find here and there all over the world. For as long as I can remember, I had always wanted my own business. Hard work…am trying to tell you how I got to where I am if you want those billions. Hard work, diligence, persistence…days where you nearly gave up but I chose not to give up.”
