Free again! Despite being sentenced to 131 days in prison on May 9,
the troubled R&B singer was released after serving 108 days at
midnight on June 2. However, Chris’ freedom may be short-lived with a
trial in Washington D.C. looming.
Chris Brown is
officially out of jail… for now. The 25-year-old singer was sprung from
a California jail at midnight on June 2 after serving 108 days of a
131-day sentence. Chris will presumably be allowed to remain free until

After being in and out of jail and rehabilitation facilities in 2014, Chris is finally going home, according to TMZ. The singer was initially sentenced to a year in prison onMay 9 for violating his probation in the Rihanna assault case (he violated it by getting thrown out of anger management rehab), though the sentence really boiled down to just 131 days after he was given credit for the 116 days he spent in rehab and the 59 days he spent behind bars awaiting trial.
However, Chris isn’t exactly home free just yet. He is still facing an assault charge stemming from an Oct. 2013 altercation in Washington D.C. The trial is tentatively set for later in June, though it has been delayed once and could be delayed again. But if Chris is found guilty in that case, he could potentially face jail time as punishment, and could face even more jail time if it’s determined to be yet another parole violation by a California judge.
Chris Brown Was ‘Suffering’ In Jail
Though we’re sure that right now, Chris is just happy to be going home. Even before his jail sentence was extended in early May, a source told HollywoodLife.com exclusively that the singer was on the verge of losing his will to live in prison.“Chris is in pain and he’s suffering mentally,” the source revealed. “It’s bad, real bad. All hope is gone. He can’t take it and everybody that knows him can’t believe he’s still alive.”
Finally though, it seems Chris has found a bit of good fortune this year, and he’ll surely be hoping it continues as he heads into his upcoming trial.
